Rock the Casbah by The Clash is the first thing that comes to mind when I see this film but that couldn’t be further from this story.
Highlighting a close community in the 1960s and using a fictional protagonist who is a filmmaker, director Alexandre Arcady tells his own story of growing up within a loving family in Algiers before the civil war dispersed the Jewish community. This story is told as a “film within a film”, from the main character’s point of view as he shares his newest film (about his life) in his old hometown.
Travel back to a simpler time in this beautifully film, Blond Boy From The Casbah
