After losing his paralegal job and spiraling into a panic attack, Sam Stein (Matthew Shear) unexpectedly finds himself babysitting his psychiatrist’s three granddaughters.
Their mother, Dianne (Amanda Peet), is an actor whose once-bright career has dimmed, and her marriage to David, a touring rock bassist, is barely holding together. When David leaves for an overseas tour, Sam and Dianne form an easy, disarming connection.
Invited to join the family for a summer on Martha’s Vineyard, Sam lands in a lively household with the woman he quietly longs for, her husband, three kids, and all four grandparents— including his psychiatrist (Judd Hirsch).
Through candid moments and playful storytelling, the film reveals how two people find stability in the most unexpected place.
