Swedishkayt follows “international Yiddish icons” YidLife Crisis—Canadian duo Eli Batalion and Jamie Elman—on a whirlwind adventure through Stockholm. With their trademark wit and “gefilte fish out of water” perspective, they uncover the little-known story of Sweden’s Jewish community, from the first immigrant 250 years ago to today’s vibrant “Jew’s Who.”

Along the way, they discover that Yiddish, surprisingly, is a protected minority language in Sweden, forging unexpected connections across continents. From hilarious encounters with Yiddish speaking cousins, to mining comedy from the diary of community founder Aaron Isaac, to candid conversations with Jewish youth over beer and bites, Swedishkayt is a feel good portrait of resilience and diversity.

Blending history, humor, and heart, the film celebrates the evolving interplay of language, culture, and identity, and the joy of finding common ground where you least expect it.
