Overview
- Roman Vishniac is known as the premier photographer of pre-Holocaust Jewish life in Eastern Europe. His famous photographs immortalized life in the shtetlach. This beautifully filmed documentary looks at Vishniac’s evolution from a Russian-Jewish microbiologist in Berlin to the iconic photographer of a vanished civilization. Vishniac was directed by Laura Bialis and produced by Nancy Spielberg, Roberta Grossman, and Phoenix-area resident Ori Eisen.
