  • The unbelievable true story of a beautiful young Polish nurse, Irena Gut, who risked her life to shelter a dozen Jewish men and women within a Nazi commander’s home during the Holocaust. When the Nazis begin to tighten their knot on the Jews, Irena risks her life to save her friends from deportation and death.

In Scottsdale, the film will be followed by remarks by Barry Zemel. The Zemel name in the Phoenix area has become synonymous with philanthropy, dedication and community service. Barry and his wife Barbara arrived in Phoenix over 50 years ago and have been active in the Jewish community from the beginning. He was president of ASU’s Hillel and served on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, the Jewish Community Foundation, and the Jewish Community Center. He was also president of the Arizona Jewish Theater Company. He continues his career as a real estate investor. Barry, the son of a Holocaust survivor, will speak about his amazing family story that is quite similar to the plot of Irena’s Vow.
