The film will be followed by a conversation with the star in both Scottsdale and Chandler. Shaina Silver-Baird is an actor, musician, creator and producer from Toronto. She is the co-creator/co-writer, executive producer and star of Less Than Kosher which premiered at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival 2023 and won the Audience Choice award. Shaina has worked at major theaters across Canada and toured the US, Europe and Middle East. She is currently starring in a brand-new play, In Seven Days, in Ontario.
Overview
- In this funny, ultra-contemporary film, Vi, a 30-year-old rebellious Jew moves back home when her attempts as a singer fail and money runs out. The family rabbi convinces Vi to accept a last minute gig as a fill-in-cantor at her childhood synagogue. When a new-age Jewish song video she makes goes viral, the irreverent Vi finds her career veering in directions she never imagined.
